Always an innovator, Steiff was the first manufacturer to produce plush pandas, all the way back in 1938. When the first example of this bear species arrived in America in 1937, Richard Steiff (the inventor of the Teddy bear), was living in the U.S. He immediately began design work to create a toy version of these magnificent creatures. On December 1, 1938, the very first sample was produced. Since that time, pandas have appeared in our product line virtually every year since. Now, Steiff heritage meets Steiff’s future. A brand-new panda bear joins the “Teddies for Tomorrow” Collection. Evander is made from eco-friendly materials. He has a plush coat and paw pads made from soy bamboo viscose. He’s filled with fibers from recycled PET bottles. Evander is a first-of-its-kind design that every collector will want to own.
